The call of Jesus' first disciples

John 1:29–42 shows John the Baptist directing disciples to Jesus, the Lamb of God. Andrew follows Jesus, discovers the Messiah, and brings Simon to him. Jesus renames Simon Peter, revealing his new identity and calling.
